One of the two idiots of Shock 'N Awe Toy Reviews, ever since he was young, Chris has sided with super-villains. At age 8 he became a Decepticon sympathizer. When he turned 18 he left home to become an Agent of A.I.M. He quit at 21 (the costumes were too stupid) and devoted his time to all things geek. His hobbies include making aluminum foil hats, magic, taxidermy and music. Oh, and reading comics. Lots and lots of comics. More nonsense can be followed at @scaabs on Twitter and his YouTube channel, Shock 'n Awe Toy Reviews.

Back in the day there was a cartoon on Nickelodeon called Invader Zim.  It focused on a small alien attempting to take over the world, failing miserably due in part to his human nemesis Dib.  The show was hilarious, crazy and absolutely wonderful, so of course it got cancelled.  I was devastated.  Luckily, Oni Press has lost their minds decided to publish an Invader Zim comic.  Is it as brilliant as the show?  Your Major Spoilers review has the answers.

As a child of the 80’s, there are a few staples in my life:  Transformers, He-Man, G.I. Joe and Jem and the Holograms.  Jem may seem out-of-place amongst the male oriented properties but I found it fascinating.  There are many fond memories of sitting down and watching Jem, Kimber, Shana and Aja rock out while also dealing with threats from rival band “The Misfits”.  The Jem and the Holograms comic from IDW has done a brilliant job updating the story for modern audiences while remaining true to its roots.  How do Jem and the Holograms fare in issue four?  Read…

Earth-616 and Earth-1610 have been destroyed, Doom is God and Battleworld has been created.  A mesh of pieces of worlds that were picked from pieces of time, it is policed by an army of Thors (awesome! ) with a giant wall separating each unique piece of land.  It has certainly been different from the original Secret Wars, that’s for sure.  Marvel’s huge event continues this week in Secret Wars #3, just after Convergence ended over at DC.  Are they anything alike?  I sat down, read it, and put my thoughts down just for you dear reader, so read on!

I was thrilled when I saw that Dynamite Entertainment’s new Reanimator was basing the Herbert West character more on the mad scientist from the original H.P. Lovecraft stories.  The first issue was a fun introduction, sticking close to the characterization while also bringing Dr. West into modern times.  Is the second issue as fresh or does it need a jolt of life?  Read the review to find out.
