It’s been announced that two more actors have joined the cast of CBS’s Supergirl series, and one of them will be playing Superman… or at least someone who could become A Superman.
David Harewood and Chyler Leigh have been cast as regulars in the series.
Chyler will play Kara Zor-Els foster sister, Alex Danvers, who is a doctor in the series… and a bit more. According to the Supergirl Wikia, “When Alex was 14, Kara Zor-El was fostered by her family. Though Alex was jealous of Kara’s special abilities, she was curiously fascinated, leading her to learn as much as she could to do with aliens.” As the series kicks off, Alex will show up as an employee of a secret government organization.
David Harewood will get to play Superman… or at least Hank Henshaw, who in the comics became Cyborg Superman during the whole Death and Resurrection of Superman series from the ’90s. In the show, Harwood’s character will be a former CIA agent who runs an organization that tracks extraterrestrial threats on Earth.
These two together should form a very strong recurring villain team as the show cranks into high gear.
Supergirl already has a series commitment from CBS, so don’t expect it to get dropped like a hot potato like the Wonder Woman series did a few years ago. And with Berlanti Productions (Arrow, The Flash) taking charge, I expect this to be a strong series.

“Harwood’s character will be a former CIA agent”
So this is a Homeland spin-off? Didn’t see that coming!
While I’ve been a bit impartial to most castings, I’m kinda glad to see Chyler Leigh joining the cast simply because I’ve had a crush on her since “Not Another Teen Movie” and “That 80’s Show”.
