Since I’m still high on the latest issue of Atomic Robo, I thought I’d feature another Scott Wegener sketch showcasing Robo in period dress from the issue. Have an idea for a future Art Appreciation Moment of the Day? Drop us a line. via Scott Wegener

I’ve been a fan of his since seeing his Spider-Man work, and today I offer up a piece from his original creation Bastion’s 7. This month I finish my run on Spectacular Spider-Man Animated. 2 seasons flew by really quick. During the time off, until another season gets picked up, I’ll be working on my Bastion’s 7 property. I have been hungering to cut loose. After picking up books from my peers, and getting tips from my sensei, Jeff Johnson, I think I’m ready to do it up proper. Sequentials scare the poop outta me. I guess what I fear…
For some reason, these pose tests seemed rather appropos today. via Deviant Art
It’s not exactly 100 years in the future, but this Sketch Tavern image of Batman in the future makes me smile. Check out that huge chin and wings – like one of his future off-spring got it on with Hawkgirl.
Photographer Ian Pool has a very awesome online portfolio, that features some very good images featuring superheroes. You’ll have to visit his site to see how good his Hulk Walking His Dog image is, and to see Doc Ock pining away for the Jonas Brothers. via Ian Pool
Apparently, you can never have enough Wolverine, and I found Collen Coover’s Wolverine sketch cover freakin’ great. Parker and Lieber are both doing awesome Wolverine sketch covers for the Hero Initiative charity, and not wanting to be left out, I snagged one of the extra special blank varient covers to do one of my own! The sketch cover comics will be put up for auction (along with others done by about 100 other comics artists!) sometime in the near future to benefit the Hero Initiative, a charity to help support veteran comics creators in need of emergency financial assistance. via…
Wolverine is 100 years old, right? Plus, as I’ve previously pointed out, you can do something right without a Wolverine appearance to draw people in. Regardless, i dig the lines and the color of this simple pose. via Deviant Art
In keeping with our 100 theme this week, the first comic strip artist (in American newspapers), Richard F. Outcault, gets a nod for his Yellow Kid – a character well over 100 years old. The Yellow Kid was a bald, snaggle-toothed child with a goofy grin in a yellow nightshirt who hung around in a ghetto alley filled with equally odd characters, mostly other children. The kid wontedly spoke in a ragged, peculiar ghetto argot printed on his shirt, a device meant to lampoon advertising billboards
To celebrate the Major Spoilers Podcast 100th issue extravaganza, all the art in the Art Appreciation Moment of the Day will feature 100 in some way shape or form. Today’s entry comes from Dave Johnson, who just posted this image of the promotional poster to celebrate the final trade paperback of 100 bullets.
Figured if I featured Princess Leia in the last installment, better give fans some Han Solo in today’s edition of the Major Spoilers Art Appreciation Moment of the Day. Since it is a holiday weekend, and I’m feeling a little silly in the head (mostly due to having little sleep, being in a car for 6 hours, and putting up with two kids under the age of two), I give you Han Solo Keg-Meister! Yes, I just might buy that on a t-shirt. via Deviant Art
Continuing the Star Wars theme for the back half of the week, I went digging for Princess Leia pictures. Man, you don’t want to do a search for serious Princess Leia art. Bondage Leia, Topless Leia, Naked For No Reason Leia, Leia Getting It On With (INSERT ALIEN/LIGHTSABER/JEDI NAME HERE), and the list goes on and on. Fortunately, I found this piece by Mark Brooks that he did for the Dallas Comicon. Take the jump for the full image!
Jay Brandt has a lot of really cool images on his DeviantArt page, but since I’m kinda going with a Star Wars theme for the rest of the week, I decided to use his C-3PO, sans body and mouth, which I think most would agree is the best way to appreciate the ‘droid. As a bonus, did you know LucasFilm owned trademark on the word droid, even though it has fallen into common usage? Don’t know if they still hold it today or not. via Deviant Art
Yesterday’s Art Appreciation Moment got me into a Star Wars kick, and I found this piece by Wynn Ryder. Wynn has a style all his own, yet I can’t help but think this is what it would look like if Scott Pilgrim Saved the Galaxy Far, Far Away… As a bonus, take the jump and see his take on Indiana Jones.
I was going for something different today when I stumbled upon J. Scott Campbell’s Padme commission. I always dig his work, and this one jumped out at me. via Deviant Art
