Art Appreciation Moment of the Day: Dave Johnson

To celebrate the Major Spoilers Podcast 100th issue extravaganza, all the art in the Art Appreciation Moment of the Day will feature 100 in some way shape or form.  Today’s entry comes from Dave Johnson, who just posted this image of the promotional poster to celebrate the final trade paperback of 100 bullets.

Man! This is turning out to be a productive week. Here’s the art/design for the poster to the event Meltdown Comics is holding in July to celebrate the last 100 Bullets TPB release.

The party will have torch singers so I thought having Grave at a piano w/ Megan laying on top would be cool. Then it hit me, a piano has the same shape as a gun holster, so why not make it a gun? Why nobody has done this before in the world of noir art is beyond me.

And to further add to the subliminal of how bad-ass 100 Bullets was, I added the Trust symbols behind the gun to represent ‘BALLS’! That’s right, I said it. As a matter of fact, the book is so awesome it needed 3 balls, and of course a big gun/penis with a beautiful woman on top. Sex and Violence always works.
