3) SQUIRREL GIRL
Doreen Green is peppy, upbeat, an animal-lover, and is possessed of an infectious joy that makes her best stories wonderful to read. The fact that her character is written as literally unbeatable is an intentionally comedic take on her 90s origins, full of stories where one grizzled man with a gun fights off the forces of evil with grit, determination, and a bionic arm or something. The fact that she can be badass as well as cheerful, kind, empathetic and just plain cute is a reminder that a spectrum of different heroes is always going to be better than a legion of gritty ersatz Batmans…
