Though Liam Neeson has said that he wouldn’t mind playing Ra’s al Ghul in the new season of Arrow, The CW has already cast the big bad with another actor.
Word is Australian actor, Matt Nable is joining the cast and will make his first appearance as the Death’s Head in episode four of the upcoming third season. Interestingly, this episode will be the 50th in the series, and is called The Magician.
Proud and unforgiving, Ra’s is a ruthless strategist, a master of martial arts, and a shaper of history. He carries the wisdom of the ages, and protects some of its greatest secrets.
Ra’s al Ghul is considered to be one of Batman’s greatest enemies, and has been featured in everything from comic books, to movies, and now, live action television. The character was created in 1971 by Dennis O’Neil and Neal Adams.
[Ra’s al Ghul] was introduced in Batman #232’s “Daughter of the Demon” (June 1971). Given his high status as a supervillain, he has also come into conflict with Superman and other superheroes in the DC Universe. The character’s creation and depiction was inspired by other works of fiction, such as the 1969 James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, and the Fu Manchu fiction.
I am caught up with season one of Arrow, and Warner Bros. is sending season two my way this week on Blu-ray, so I should be able to catch up in time to see Mr. Nable when he appears on The Arrow on October 29, 2014. Arrow season 3 arrives

I’m not that far behind. After seeing the premier episodes when it aired, I didn’t see anything else until I watched season one on Netflix a couple weeks back. It wasn’t so much lack of interest as it was a combination that something else was always on when Arrow was, my CW doesn’t seem to air captions properly and it didn’t always show up on my On Demand.
Given that he wanted to reprise his role I really wish they had gone with Liam Neeson, but I will remain open minded.
