No, that’s not some eye chart test, but rather a reminder that the Justice League Unlimited Legion of Super-Heroes 4-pack will be on sale May 15, 2009 up on the Matty Collector website. Interestingly, my summer officially starts on May 15, which means I’ll be getting my summer started right with these figures. via Matty Collector

Mattel has announced the sold out Mer-Man figures, part of the new Masters of the Universe collection, will be back in stock on April 29th, beginning at 12:00 PM Eastern. The first run of the figures sold out, so fans who are building up their new action figure collection will want to cue up early. If this second shipment also sells out fast, we will look at increasing orders again until we can get the numbers just right for MOTU figures. It is a learning process, and we appreciate fan’s understanding as we move forward with each sale getting closer…
This year at the San Diego Comic-Con, Dark Horse Comics is giving attendees a chance to snatch up an exclusive Domo “Qee” transparent variant. The only place to get your hands on the NHK television mascot is to attend the convention (or just wait until it appears on eBay the week after). The Domo Qee program, to be launched nationwide in August, is Dark Horse’s first try at the popular “blind box†or “mystery box†format. Individual figures are packed in small boxes; the only way to know which particular figure is inside a particular box is to purchase and…
Maybe it is the paranoia finally getting to me, but it seems the publishers are starting to figure out this whole web promotion thing, and instead of relying on the indie web sites (like this one), the comic publishers are starting to do their own thing. DC launched its own blog site releasing DC news befor anyone else, and now Marvel is getting into the action figure arena with Geek-lactus. What is Geek-lactus? It’s a monthly video series hosted by Jasse Falcon, where he talks all about new Marvel merchandise. On the plus side, Marvel is making these videos embeddable,…
The Masters of the Universe re-mastered collection of figures from Mattel have been selling really well since being introduced by the toy company. Several of those figures have been limited edition figures sold exclusively through Mattel’s MattyCollector.com website (that is until eBay sellers get on the bandwagon). April 15th saw the release of Mer-Man, and even though Mattel has sold numerous figures through the website, the online shopping cart ended up being fraught with trouble causing many carts to remain empty, and before long international buyers couldn’t get their hands on the MOTU fish man. The good news is Mattel…
According to a post up on the Matty Collector Facebook page, the anticipated Alex Luthor/Ultraman action figure two-pack has been bumped to June 15, 2009. On the plus side, the Legion of Super-Heroes 4 Pack arrives May 15, 2009. Quick update everyone, here are current release dates for the next few items on Mattycollector.com: Mer-Man – 4 /15 We will likley sell out of Mer-Man on day 1, but we have a second batch coming in which should go on sale about 4/23 Zodac – 5/15 LOSH JLU 4 pack – 5/15 Hordak – 6/15 Alex Luthor/Ultraman two pack -…
Hot dang! Saw these today over at the Matty Collector FaceBook page, and I’m burning with jealousy over the exclusive figures Mattel will feature at San Diego Comic Con 2009. Granted, today is April 1, 2009, but we’ve seen some of these figures already appear during the New York Comic Con, so it’s a safe bet at least most of these figures are legit.
I really like the build a bridge idea that this new collection offers. It’s a way to guarantee the entire figure run sells out, and increases the ire of those who are looking for the short pack figure to complete the set.
Universal pictures has picked up the rights to develop a movie based on Mattel’s action figure, Major Matt Mason. While another toy movie may not sound like a big deal, with Tom Hanks starring in the movie, it will probably get a lot more attention than the Stretch Armstrong movie. The toy line originated in 1966; Mason led an astronaut team that worked on the moon and lived in a space station. The toy was a hit in the buildup to the first manned moon mission. Mattel retired the line in the 1970s. Hanks and Gary Goetzman will produce with…
Diamond Select Toys previewed the new Star Trek action figure line back in February, and today the company announced The Original Series Series 5 will arrive in August. The fifth series picks up where the Art Asylum line left off and gives fans updated versions of characters based on classic Star Trek episodes. Captain Kirk – Based on the illustrious Captain’s appearance in “The Enemy Within,” this alternate green and gold uniform is combined with an all-new Captain Kirk head-sculpt. Accessories will include a bottle of Saurian brandy, a favorite of “Evil Kirk.” Dr. McCoy – the cantankerous Chief Medical…
I picked up the second wave of DC’s New Gods action figures based on the designs of Jack Kirby, and as the Superman figure sat upon my shelf staring down at me with much contempt, it suddenly struck me how much Kal-El looks like Adam Carolla. Imagine Carolla donning the blue and red tights, arriving to fight Lex Luthor, and the first thing out of his mouth is “Let’s get it on!” Yeah, you’re probably right, I should stop shotgunning cases of Full Throttle at 3:00 AM. via The Strange Thoughts Inside Stephen’s Head
I know more than a few Major Spoilerites will be heading over to MattyCollector.com to order the Legion of Super-Heroes figures done in the Justice League Unlimited style. The 4-pack goes on sale on May 15, and while no pre-order or pricing information has been posted, the Justice League Unlimited Gotham City Criminals Action Figure 4-Pack sold for $30.00.
You know what’s missing in the G.I. Joe trailers? Destro — chrome dome himself being played by former Doctor Who Christopher Eccleston. So what will masked Destro look like? An overseas eBayer has the answer with a loose G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra figure currently going for $15.00. Take the jump to see what you can expect.
If you thought the G.I. Joe movie looked ridiculous, just wait until you see the first trailer for the Steve Oedekerk Stretch Armstrong movie. Stretch Armstrong? I remember that guy! “This is a new well from which to draw intellectual properties that bring a pre-awareness and nostalgia,” Schneir said. “They are drawing filmmakers who find a real emotional connection and resonance, and this is proving to be a compelling driver for motion pictures.” The toy from the 70’s also featured a monster, a dog, and an evil twin brother. The last time a Stretch Armstrong movie tried to get made,…
