When an announced movie moves out of the script stage, and the rumors of who will star settle down, I actually start paying more attention to the press releases, when the director is finally attached.  Such is the case with the Warner Bros. DC Comics Green Lantern movie, which has just announced Martin Campbell is in negotiations to helm the superhero flick. The emergence of Campbell, who also helmed two “Zorro” films and the 007 film “GoldenEye,” puts “Green Lantern” at the top of DC properties being set for movie treatment by WB. If Parker Won’t Go to Ultimatum, Then Ultimatum Will Come to Him Wow!  Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! WOW!  While I may not like what is happening to Marvel’s Ultimate Universe – namely killing everyone and everything – Marvel has done one thing in the Ultimatum event that DC didn’t do in Final Crisis; creating the feeling of an epic disaster where the fate of the world is at stake.

Marvel is really making the buck off Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass series.  Seems like the individual issues have gone back to print so many times that I’ve lost count. Perhaps Marvel has lost count too, as it has announced the Umpteenth Printing Variants for the first four issues.

My jealousy for those able to attend all the great comic book convention continues to grow whenever I see the panel, signing, and booth schedules for the various publishers.  Image Comics has sent its rundown, and there are plenty of things for Image fans to do this weekend.
