For the longest time we thought Guillermo Del Toro would be the genius who would take on the magical forces of the DC Universe. Looks like Warner Bros. is making “smart” decisions once again by hiring someone else to helm the dark universe project.
While Warner Bros. is silent on the project (which means this news will more than likely change in three months), it looks like director Doug Liman has left the troubled Gambit flick to take on Justice League Dark. JL Dark is expected to focus on the magic users of the DCU including John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, and Etrigan the Demon.
Interestingly, Justice League Dark is one of the upcoming Warner Bros. Animated films coming our way later this fall. Why interesting? Many of our long time readers will remember that WB released Batman: Assault on Arkham (aka the animated Suicide Squad) two years before the live action film exploded on the screen. Could we be seeing WB testing the waters of live action fare with animated movies? Seems like a very odd coincidence if it all lines up that way.
Will Liman remain on Justice League Dark, or will he bail? Will Del Toro be offered the job? Tune in tomorrow, same Major Spoilers time, same Major Spoilers website.

The DCU Magic characters are some of my favorites. I really hope this is good regardless of who helms. While I’d like Matt Ryan to come back. I wouldn’t hold my breath. I’d also love if this was a R rated horror type film, but see previous statement.
Please just have a better name than Justice League Dark which is just so awkward.
