Major Spoilers Poll of the Week: Amanda Waller
We talked about it briefly on a previous issue of the Major Spoilers Podcast – you know, when the site was down – but I’m really interested in finding out what the World Wide Major Spoilers Fan Base thinks of casting rumors surrounding the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. Though we don’t report rumor as fact, I find it fascinating that Oprah Winfrey is being sought after as the big screen’s (second) Amanda Waller.
DISCUSSION:
The Flash “The Man in the Yellow Suit”
BARRY COMES FACE-TO-FACE WITH THE MAN IN THE YELLOW SUIT/AMANDA PAYS RETURNS TO THE FLASH — Barry (Grant Gustin) finds himself face-to-face with his nemesis, the man in the yellow suit, a.k.a. Reverse Flash, who killed his mother. Barry is frustrated when the Reverse Flash escapes, but Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) come up with a plan to trap him. All they need is bait, so they turn to Dr. Tina McGee (guest star Amanda Pays) from Mercury Labs to help. Meanwhile, it’s Christmas at The West household and Iris (Candice Patton) is in full holiday cheer. Eddie (Rick Cosnett) gives her a surprising gift but also leaves her with a question that could change her life. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) joins the search for the man in yellow and ends up in the crossfire. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) finds Ronnie (Robbie Amell). Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Aaron Helbing (#109).

I think the suit was in the FLASH RING, right? The suit didn’t appear until he punched the ring at the button thing.
I still think Eddie or a descendant of Eddie is somehow the Man in the Yellow Suit, and I too hold to the theory that Iris will leave Eddie for Barry, and that will be the ultimate catalyst for him becoming Reverse Flash in the Future.
We may well have seen Wells working on the suit, that he will give to Eddie in the future. In a paradox of sorts Wells needed RF to steal the Tachyon device to actually make it all work in the first place? Time travel…sheesh. I also think there was a LOT more going on with Tina McGee and Wells than the episode let on…all their talk about ‘the Future…’
Speaking of which, I’m also certain that Barry is going to be present at his mother’s murder, chasing RF through time. I believe he was also there when Joe received the threatening message to stop investigating her murder. We will see all that play out through Barry’s eyes at some point in the future. Maybe the Season Finale?
Yeah, the suit was in the ring. It expanded to cover the mannequin when Wells touched it to the case.
I don’t think you guys touched on it, but it’s worth noting that Eddie was the only cop the Reverse Flash didn’t attack. Maybe because he knows he can’t injure himself/ancestor in the past? I think the writers are going for something that we nerds wouldn’t expect so it won’t be as clear cut as “Definitely Thawne” or “Definitely Zolomon.” While I fully support Stephen’s multiple earths theory, I had to draw the line when he invoked Earth-3; that one’s a bridge too far for me in a plot that’s already going to be really complicated come the end..
Ok so here’s my big theory on Dr. Wells and the Reverse-Flash:
There are 2 versions of Wells running around right now, a “present day” one and a “future” one. Future Wells is the man in the yellow suit and is the one we’ve seen going into the secret room, killing people, etc… I think future Wells is either unstuck in time or is stuck in the past and trying to get back home, hence wanting the tachyon device.
I’m going to guess in an upcoming episode Barry is going to accidentally time travel. This will give present day Wells the idea of going back in time to save his wife. He’ll try to get Barry to go back and either Barry will say no or he’ll try and fail, (either can’t travel back or can’t save her). Present Wells will then use his notes, research, and blood samples to give himself super speed to try and do it himself.
I could see them having this play out over several episodes, even over a whole season. Whichever way it goes I’m sure it’ll be good since they’ve done a great job so far.
