The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Denis Leary is in final talks to join the cast of the new Spider-Man movie playing Captain George Stacy. We know that Captain Stacy dies in a battle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus, but with all the changes going on in the reboot, one wonders if he’s going to bite the bullet or not.

I’m interested to see Leary (and the writers’) take on Captain Stacy. Leary does a fantastic job on Rescue Me, and Captain Stacy, unlike many of the characters in the last round of Spidey movies, has been long gone for a while now. I’m not sure we’ll see his death in this one, with it being a reintroduction of sorts. Definitely interested to see how things turn out, though.
If there’s going to be a re-write, let’s go b@lls out. General Stacy marries Nurse Centipede at the end, with Spider-Man doing vocals, before Spidey flies off to his home planet Krypton. Paves the way for Spider-Man, the Musical.
