Cover by Joao Ruas
“The Great Fables Crossover†part 7 of 9! Jack Horner, meet Jack Frost. But wait a minute! Didn’t we already establish that Jack Horner was Jack Frost? Concerning the nature of his craft, Tom Clancy once opined that the “difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense.” If this is so, how do we explain Jack being put in charge of the Farm and all of Fablekind? How do we explain Jack being allowed to babysit Bigby and Snow’s cubs? How does that make sense? We here at Fables headquarters can only come to one conclusion: as impossible as it may seem, Fables isn’t fiction, it’s real.

Hee, look at evil Damien with his finger-mashing.
Wow….there’s a recession going on, and DC can actually sell all those statues? Really?
Hmm. No PLANETARY #27 – and it’s JUNE already. I think that John Cassaday is going for the record for Longest gap between penultimate and ultimate issues. 3 F-ing years, Cassaday. Meanwhile, he’s doing ALL of the covers for Buck F-ing Rogers.
GET. THE. F-ING. ISSUE. DONE. What is the F-ing Problem???????????????????????????????????
You know all this makes me think of is this:
Marvel: “My world is better because it’s dark and gritty!”
DC: “Nuh uh. My world is way darker than yours.”
Marvel: “Oh Yeah?!?!?”
DC: “Yeah!!”
At least Booster Gold is going with an up in pages for Blue Beetle. $1 extra is almost justified.
Judging by some of those solicits, it looks like DC is starting to fix their trade paperback system. I only have to wait another few months instead of a few years. Thank God.
And that Green Arrow bust will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.
I like that DC is putting backup material and charging $3.99. I don’t mind paying for extra content. Other companies *cough* Marvel *cough* should take notice. But quick question – I thought paper prices were the reason why prices were going up? DC’s prices are going up like Marvel’s, but they’re upping their page count unlike Marvel…what gives? If it’s not paper prices, what’s causing the prices to go up? And how is it that DC can afford to give me extra content, but Marvel can’t?
Different paper stock will cost more money and cause the price to rise – so that is part of it. The other part is the printing and ink, which is very expensive right now. Marvel relies a lot on specialty printing for all them fancy colors and effects, and that costs more as well.
So, Judd W. is taking over a Batman title, eh? What’s the over/under on how many issues it’ll be before we find out someone has HIV … ?
“THE SANDMAN BY JOE SIMON & JACK KIRBY

Advance-solicited; on sale August 12 • 304 pg, FC, $39.99 US”
Wow. I could do without the unrelated-until-Gaiman 70s book, even though I doubt the removal of its seventeen pages would’ve reduced the cover price one bit. Can’t have enough S&K superheros stuff in print.
