I won’t spoil the joke for anyone else, but a certain alignment comment from a certain Matthew had certain Angel Hair pasta coming out of my nose from laughter.

Man, now I wonder what I said… :)
I agree with him, the line was pretty danged funny. :)
Matthew, it was shortly after you tried to pass off Corellon off as an angry, vengeful god…
Now, if you had gone on a little more about how spectacular the boots were, and how your god hates those who ruin a good ensemble – I bet your bluff would _totally_ have worked then. :)
Yay, this has been a fun little side-adventure. Like Stephen, I really like the parallel storytelling — it brings home the idea that this is a really huge world, and that the events affecting the main characters have wide-ranging implications.
I want a bumper sticker that says “screw the void”
I really hoped Stephen would have used his Oath of Enmity on the half-orc when he started running, imagine Seven Owls-Wise hunting the low life on his off time and never quite manage to kill him ;-)
These episodes are great, it’s a cool way to break the routine and still advance the story.
I like how they all ended up in a single file defensive line at the end. “None shall pass!”
Was this the same obelisk that Randus detected a while back, that the Four decided not to go after?
Also, have we seen any Void monsters lately that deal necrotic damage? Thunder, psychic, even plain old creepy, yes. Do we know what it was that killed the cleric with the package?
I have heard various episodes and for the most part they have served as the spark that has ignited once again the flames of interest in D & D in young and old DMs alike. However I would like to provide my opinion in the following D & D situations that were very palpable on the latest episode:
First in my opinion, the battles have become too long and are devoid of most storytelling narrative, making us, the listeners, hard to follow what’s going on. I know its a difficult issue to handle considering the media involved (audio with no visual feedback), but some narrative description during the long battle sequence would be greatly appreciated. By “description” I mean that I wish that the fight sequences are not delegated to a simple “that’s a hit”, “that’s a miss”, “20”, “am bloodied”, “is he bloodied?” and that’s all. Considering that there are 4 players and that same amount of monsters, the fight sequences become repetitive (even lasting various podcast sessions which makes us the listeners lose track of what’s going on) with only injections of funny references, rule/feats descriptions and jokes (which we all appreciate). It would be helpful if some heroic narrative could be added to the encounters even if it means bending the rules a little just for the enjoyment of you audience.
Second and in the same line of bending of rules, I found a little bit disturbing the scenario in which our heroes where robbed because they all fell asleep. Story wise I didn’t saw the purpose of them being robbed (besides the fact that it irked the players a little) but, again in my opinion, I found that the inability of our heroes to avoid getting robbed was felt as a little too heavy handed on the part of Rodrigo (DM). For them to become victims and having their possessions taken away TWICE without some perception checks from ALL team members was akin to some Gygaxian practices of old in which the DM heavily dominates the heroes fates and choices.
Besides those differences in opinion, I hope you keep rolling critical hits in the success of your podcast for a long time to come.
On the first part, yeah that makes sense and you’ll prolly enjoy next week’s episode. On the second, in case you are unaware, 4th edition did add a Passive Perception check to be used when someone is not actively on looking (same thing with insight). So the only person that should roll is the person on guard duty, the others just get to take 10.
Hi Rob,
Thanks for your response. I have to listen to the podcast again but didn’t everyone just failed their endurance and fell asleep? Regardless, keep up the good work and thanks for your podcast!
It was something best done between friends who play together a lot. I found it humorous. Has to be the first time “Magnificent Rack” has been used to describe ones Diety. Well, maybe not.
