Logan, a.k.a Wolverine, a.k.a James Howlett, has many roles to play in the Marvel Universe. He is an X-Man; an Avenger; and a former member of X-Force, Weapon X and Alpha Flight. However, with Cyclops beginning his mutant revolution, Wolverine has added the roles of mentor and teacher to his repertoire; similar to the recently deceased Professor Xavier. Although he is the least likely candidate among his peers to be headmaster, Wolverine, with the help of his fellow X-Men, has made Jean Grey School a safe haven for mutants.

From Preacher to The Boys, Garth Ennis’ titles are some of the most controversial, hard hitting, in-your-face comics in the business. Still, with a name so recognizable in the industry, why is his new series called “Garth Ennis’ Red Team”? Is it because we would not believe Garth Ennis wrote a crime comic book? Is it like in movies where it says “Quentin Tarentino Presents” or a “Spike Lee Joint” in the title? Maybe the title Red Team was trademarked. Either way, with Garth Ennis’ name attached to the title, there are bound to be violence, blood, and a ton…

He is the master of sea creatures and a member of the Justice League; a hero caught between the surface world and his ocean world of Atlantis. Unfortunately for Aquaman, he is also the butt of many superhero jokes in mainstream media, ranging from Family Guy to Robot Chicken (he needs to be near water for him to be useful, apparently). With the new 52, Geoff Johns had the daunting task of making Aquaman relevant. After a year and a half, he has succeeded so far. After a year and a half as a team since the 52 reboot, their roster has not changed. Besides Hal Jordan a.k.a. Green Lantern leaving the team, their core has consisted of a six member team: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Aquaman, and Flash. However, with promotions for a new Justice League (of America) from DC Comics, change seems to be coming very soon.

He is the Star-Spangled Avenger. After leading the Avengers to “victory” against the Phoenix Five, Captain America has expanded the Avengers roster. He is also sporting a new uniform to go with the Marvel Now campaign. As Marvel’s “top cop”, Captain America slings his mighty shield against his foes, both old and new.
