My local Fox affiliate airs two episodes of ‘Family Guy’ each night, but rather than two consecutive ones, they’re on two separate rerun rotations. Currently, we’re in the wonderful part of the cycle where both eps come from after the HD conversion, which means better art, fewer cringe episodes and more mocking of Brian. It also means we can see the wonderful time when Peter and Quagmire became a folk duo, singing a number of terrible songs and the truly sublime “Have You Ever Put Butter On A Pop-Tart”, which is the zenith of Seth McFarlane’s comedic powers. It’s a truly fun song, singable but not ear-wormy, approachable and well-performed, leading to today’s so frickin’ good query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is a fat man, and so absolutely has, asking: Have you ever put butter on a Pop-Tart?

No…. However, in my childhood there were times that instead of peanut butter & jelly sandwiches we’d get peanut butter & marshmallow fluff sandwiches. So of course, when the parental unit wasn’t paying attention, I HAD to try a marshmallow fluff & jelly sandwich.
Why would you want to put butter on a slab of sugar?
Because it’s amazing. Fats and sugars are the building blocks of comedy, my friend.
My research suggests hot dogs and twinkies are the building blocks of comedy.
If it means literal butter on a literal PopTart, then no but I am willing to try it now. If it means something else … maybe ;)
