There was a time when comic book heroes were considered nothing more than throw-away entertainment for the kiddies. This meant that when Batman came to the big screen in the 40s, it was as a relatively embarrassing live-action version of himself. He had it better than Captain America, though, who lost nearly everything about his identity that people recognize, including his shield, life as a soldier and the name “Steve Rogers.” Then again, I’m not sure anything could be more off-putting than the Martian Manhunter in the unaired 90s Justice League pilot, a role that even the brilliance of David “Major Winchester” Ogden-Stiers could salvage, leading to today’s liberal arts query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) reminds Faithful Spoilerites that Jack Reacher is supposed to be 6′ 5″ and Tom Cruise… is not, asking: What’s the most embarrassing live-action outing by one of your favorite comic or literary characters?

Jeez. Alec Baldwin’s Shadow or Billy Mumy’s The Phantom.
Hmmm. Tough choice.
I think I will go with whatever Billy Crystal was doing in The Princess Bride. That really pissed me off.
Zane not Mumy. I suuuper apologize to Billy Mumy.
Captain America nuff said
Not at all my favorite, but it has to be said – Power Rangers.
