TURN OUT THE LIGHTS
Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #3 opens up with a flashback to Elektra and Matt Murdock in bed confessing their feelings for eachother. Things then jump to the present where Elektra is in the middle of a fight with Kraven. After he gets the upper hand and she barely manages to escape, she heads inside where she’s able to utilize her ninja skills to turn the tables. Before she’s able to finish the job though Aka appears. The two women have a talk about The Hand and their true purpose in the world before Aka departs. After Elektra escapes the authorities she’s informed of the events that happen in Devil’s Reign #5 and she leaves after resharpening her weapons. Elsewhere the new leader of The Hand is revealed.
AN UNEVENTFUL DISPLAY
Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #3 is a fist first, talk later type of comic book. A majority of the pages are devoted to the fight between Kraven and Elektra. These nicely show off how dangerous Elektra can be and really does well to establish her as being a different type of Daredevil than Matt. Everything else in this comic is reserved for reactions to things that happen in other comics. This makes this a somewhat frustrating read, because while this is a Daredevil book, it isn’t labeled as being part of Devil’s Reign, but the final third of the book is directly tied to the event. Furthermore, the amount of cliffhangers at the end of this issue is a bit excessive with a solid three of them taking place.
THE BOTTOM LINE: A TRUE 50/50 BOOK
Daredevil: Woman Without Fear #3 starts out strong. The fight between Elektra and Kraven is well done and really emphasizes what type of character Elektra is in a way that isn’t often done. Also, the confrontation between her and Aka manages to avoid going into cliche territory and feels like an actual conflict that would happen between these two. After that though the issue spends too much time referencing other comics or setting up cliffhangers. 2.5 out of 5 stars.

Daredevil” Woman Without Fear #3 is a decent Elektra comic book, but it’s too wrapped up with Devil’s Reign and events happening in other titles to really stand up on its own.
