During the halcyon days of yesteryear, I remember young Zach referring to 1979’s The Warriors as “an old movie.” On the one hand, I can see his point, as 1979 seems like a million years ago. (Then again, Christmas, which was last Saturday, also feels like several months past.) But the whole thing brings up an interesting thought; the definition of old is relative. My wife and I said Casablanca, Sarah said Gone With The Wind, and the Widget’s answer (which was also the best) was Night Of The Living Dead, which proves the point in a limited fashion. and leads us to today’s subjective query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) now wants to go watch Night Of The Living Dead, asking: What’s the first thing that comes to mind when someone says “an old movie?”

‘Old movies’ are black and white. The ones that involve people talking and nothing blows up.
Some of the really old movies had episodic serials in front of them.
“Hey guys, you ever see that really old movie, Empire Strikes Back?”
Metropolis or the original Nosferatu. yup I’m old too.
These two exactly for me too!
Singin’ in the Rain. Not just an old movie, but a type of movie that genuinely doesn’t get made anymore.
They tried with La-La Land, but couldn’t stick the landing.
Casablanca. I’m about due for a rewatch…
