As a lifelong voice nerd and professional communicator, I’m fascinated by accents. Anyone who knows our various podcasts (especially Critical Hit) should be aware of this, but I’m also fascinated to have a voice nerd child, who loves to talk about her favorite anime actors and their various dialects. For me, it’s hard to choose who has the best accent, since my favorites all have multiples, but I really enjoy the late Lennie Weinrib (whose voice you know, even if you don’t know the name), who always seemed to revel in his H.R. Pufnstuf southern drawl. Heck, there’s even whatever it is Madonna is doing with her speech patterns, leading to today’s dialectic query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) has to go with Michael Caine, whose Cockney accent is a literal force of nature, asking: What celebrity person has the best accent to your ear?

James Earl Jones. I just saw Dr. Strangelove for the first time this past week, and seeing that he was in it immediately made it my favorite Kubrick film ever.
Not sure about absolute best, but just watched Mandalorian and I kinda like Bill Burr’s Boston thing. You don’t hear that often in movies, at least in modern ones. And everyone else in Star Wars are British.
Good one! I’m a big fan of BB and his ‘heh’ is classic Bill Burr.
High on my list is Paul Bettany’s accent. If I could chose an accent it would be his.
