Thanks to the recent unpleasantness, I’ve been forced to wear a mask for eight hours a day. One of my newest ones is a banana print fabric, and it brings me joy to wear it, if only to sing “BANANA MASK! doot dooo de doo doo” all day long. Finding a simple thing that brings you joy is essential, in my opinion, whether it be cartoon Matter-Eater Lad, the episode of ‘Gilligan’s Island’ with The Mosquitos or re-reading the short stories of Stephen King. In short, which is to say not for long, it brings us around to today’s ineffable query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is also weirdly soothed by watching ‘Tom & Jerry’ cartoons on Boomerang, asking: What bit of pop culture inexplicably brings you joy for no reason you can really explain?

Video game called Akiba’s Trip. Its a simple action rpg with a funny premise of underground organization turning people sort of synthetic vampires to overtake Akihabara, Tokyo. Its full of funny, but obviously lovingly written humor about the whole geek paradise its set into, touching almost every sub culture that’s found in it. On top of that, you fight those vampires by stripping their clothes and exposing them to sunlight, so yeah, it’s not to be taken seriously.
