    Major Spoilers Question of the Day: Fifth Turtle Edition

    Almost since the very beginning of the Teenage Mutant NInja Turtles, it seems that there has been an unexplained need to introduce a Fifth Turtle.  From Slash to Picasso to the much-maligned Venus De Milo, the desier to turn our quartet into a classic Five-Man Band has been strong.  My favorite will probably always be the never-actualized Kirby, who follows the naming conventions of the original TMNT with a comic twist that kind of has to be seen to be believed, while the current TMNT series has added Jennika, a mutated human ninja to the group’ roster, leading to today’s bossa nova query…

    The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) even recalls an issue where April O’Neil became a fifth, female member of the team even before Venus, asking: Has there EVER been a successful Fifth Turtle in your eyes?

    Once upon a time, there was a young nerd from the Midwest, who loved Matter-Eater Lad and the McKenzie Brothers... If pop culture were a maze, Matthew would be the Minotaur at its center. Were it a mall, he'd be the Food Court. Were it a parking lot, he’d be the distant Cart Corral where the weird kids gather to smoke, but that’s not important right now...       I’ve not been following Turtles stuff that much in a while, but as far as I know, not yet. Its pretty hard to do to a team that’s been established as four guys with distinct roles from the beginning.
