Almost since the very beginning of the Teenage Mutant NInja Turtles, it seems that there has been an unexplained need to introduce a Fifth Turtle. From Slash to Picasso to the much-maligned Venus De Milo, the desier to turn our quartet into a classic Five-Man Band has been strong. My favorite will probably always be the never-actualized Kirby, who follows the naming conventions of the original TMNT with a comic twist that kind of has to be seen to be believed, while the current TMNT series has added Jennika, a mutated human ninja to the group’ roster, leading to today’s bossa nova query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) even recalls an issue where April O’Neil became a fifth, female member of the team even before Venus, asking: Has there EVER been a successful Fifth Turtle in your eyes?

The turtles are just too much of an icon as a foursome for a fifth member to ever not feel tacked on.
I’ve not been following Turtles stuff that much in a while, but as far as I know, not yet. Its pretty hard to do to a team that’s been established as four guys with distinct roles from the beginning.
