Thanks to the ‘Shattered Grid’ crossover happening in the BOOM! Studios Power Rangers comics, we get to revisit the various previous iterations of colorful helmeted warriors, from Angel Grove to the dome city of Corinth to that weird space colony Power Rangers season. When it comes to different versions of the Rangers, it’s a tough call for me which is best: R.P.M.’s dark tone? The wacky hijinks of the original Mighty Morphin’ team? Super Megaforce, with their wooden leader and wild shifts in tone and character? It’s a very hard call, leading us to today’s color-coded query.
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) has decided to NOT allow Super Sentai answers this time, just because I can, so we gotta go American this time, asking: Which Power Rangers season do you personally have the most affection for?

I only ever saw the first crew (both before and after they added the green/white ranger).
So I guess that one.
I like quirky and funny things when it comes to Japanese shows, so Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger is what I remember fondly. Yes, its not exactly Power Rangers, but I count is as Super Sentai and that totally counts.
Usually, I find the Super Sentai series to be better than the Power Rangers equivalent. However, in the rare exception, I find Power Rangers RPM more enjoyable than Engine Sentai Go-onger. That makes it my favorite alone, not counting the great meta writing and acting that pulls it off splendidly.
Personally really like Mystic Force for Power Rangers. Though that is mostly because of the major antagonist Koragg, because dark knights are very cool.
If Super Sentai I’ll go with Boukenger.
While MMPR will always hold a special place in my heart, I gotta go with SPD, and NOT just because it is the adaptation of one of my personal favorite Sentai series. I quite enjoyed the idea that they were not even the top tier team of the organization, they were only thrust into the role because the A-Squad went missing. I also enjoyed that they were not perfect individuals and didn’t even get along at first, having to grow over time instead of being a flawless team from the start. It felt like there was real character growth over the series, like how Sky started off all pouty at not being the Red Ranger, but he eventually comes to respect Jack.
