When Beth dumps Lane, he decides to kill himself, making bumbling attempts at suicide. I loved this episode so much, guys! Glad to hear Zach’s excitement about one of my favorite comedy films.
I wonder if there might be music rights issues with Better Off Dead that prevent it from streaming. Stephen mentions a scene that he thought might have had a song substitution. It could very well be that David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen have refused to agree on the royalties for “Everybody Wants Some” and that has kept the movie from hitting Netflix. Just speculation, but worth considering.
I plan to show this movie to my son tonight, and I can do that because there is a copy at my local library. Stephen does a great job of suggesting libraries as a source for graphic novels and trade comics. Please remember that public libraries are also a great source, sometimes the ONLY source, for movies that have been released on BluRay or DVD and then discontinued. Almost 900 libraries worldwide own Better Off Dead. http://www.worldcat.org/title/better-off-dead/oclc/746080650?referer=br&ht=edition
Sadly, Hays Public Library isn’t one of them, so it wouldn’t have helped you in this case, being on deadline. But libraries can also get things through Interlibrary Loan if you give them enough notice. :-)
Can’t wait to listen to your One Crazy Summer episode. That is a movie that I have not yet seen, but I’ll be watching before I listen! Thanks so much for all you do.
