Really interesting discussion, I was aware of the King in Yellow but I didn’t know the history of it.

I’d like to recommend the Laundry Files role playing game and book series by Charles Stross for a modern take on the mythos. Especially the first book the Atrocity Archives and the most recent volume the Annihilation Score, which features a plot to perform the King In Yellow and cause very bad things.

A spider I killed a few weeks ago looked almost exactly like the yellow sign.
