We’ve all been dying for news about the Blade Runner sequel… right? RIIIIIGGGHTT? Too bad, the movie is coming, and Alcon Entertainment has announced a release date.
Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford are starring in the flick that is being directed by Denis Villeneuve.
The story, written by Hampton Fancher (co-writer of the original) and Michael Green and based on a story by Fancher and Scott, takes up several decades after the conclusion of the 1982 original — which was set in 2019 Los Angeles with constant rain.
Principle photography begins in July with the movie scheduled to arrive in theaters on January 12, 2018.
So… are you ready for a sequel? With the implication that Deckard is a replicant that doesn’t have a shut off date, and no sign of Rachel in the casting notices, it looks like we know who is a Replican… and who is a Replican’t.
For me, I definitely don’t think a sequel is necessary, but I will check the movie out if they can replicate the aesthetics of the first movie without making it looks totally stupid like they did in the Total Recall remake.
