y’know, i think the nolan batman flicks that leave affleck’s batman in a hopefully better place than we all think. at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, Batman leaves Gotham with the message that anyone can be a hero, anyone can become Batman, anyone can sacrifice a little (or all) of themselves to make someone else’s day suck a little less. TDKR ends on an incredibly hopeful, optimistic note.
So hopefully, that’s the message that Batman gives Supes by the end of MOS2. Yes, Superman destroyed an entire city and killed a dude on worldwide broadcast. Yes, Supes is a living weapon. But he can take that strength and endurance, and use it to make the world a better place. He can stop an energy blast from hitting a busload of kids. He can stop a building from falling on an old lady. He can haul the nuke out of the city far enough so nobody is harmed by the blast.
And now I really want to watch The Iron Giant, which was a better Superman movie than MOS was.
TLDR, Batman can show Superman that being a hero is more about sacrifice than heavy hitting punchy-punchy.
