Diamond Comic Distributors released some of the market share information for titles that shipped in January 2014. While it shouldn’t come as a surprise that DC and Marvel continue to fight it out for the top publisher or the month, DC Comics did make a couple of the top lists – Best of the Month and Most Comics Shipped.
Compared to December 2013, comic sales slipped by 5.87% on the dollar side, probably due in part to the drop of issues sold (a drop of just over 7%). Compared to a year ago, the number of issues sold dropped nearly 7.5%. On the plus side, if you look at the last 12 months, overall sales are up by 4.61%.
