What if our greatest heroes (you know, the ones not owned by Marvel), became our greatest threat? That’s the premise behind NeterRealm’s Injustice: Gods Among Us video game, and there’s a new trailer that teases all the fighty-fighty action.
“With Injustice: Gods Among Us, we are creating an all-new franchise with incredible battles set in the DC Comics Universe,” said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “NetherRealm Studios is the extremely talented team behind the latest Mortal Kombat hit and it is developing a game unlike any other in the fighting genre.”
“We can’t wait to reveal Injustice: Gods Among Us because it will give our fans and gamers an epic experience as they battle like gods as their favorite DC Comics villains and heroes,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “Our team is excited to make a fighting game that is filled with fast-paced action, incredible story-telling and iconic DC Comics characters.”
Batman, kicking Grundy through a building? Batman is awesome, but the power creep is starting to become ridiculous.
While the trailer looks interesting, I get the feeling this is simply the Moral Kombat engine skinned with DC characters… again.
Injustice: Gods Among Us arrives in 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U.

Yeah, wow seeing Grudy get punted by Batman like that has me wondering if they’ve ever read a batman comic, or seen a movie. The character designs are great, but that’s about it. And who are we kidding the flash would definitely not survive that impact.
For all their promises of epic storytelling it just looks like a standard fighting game to me.
Can someone at Marvel or DC please think about making a freaking single-player RPG set in their universe?
KOTOR or Fallout-ish style interactive storytelling?
Mortal Kombat sucks. DC sucks. MK vs. DC sucked.
Why stop the fail-train now?
It’s funny how they used the title Gods Among Us for their new game because it was the exact title of a novel that I was writing but at the last moment had the smarts to change the title of my scifi fantasy novel and us the main character’s name in the title of my book.
Looks like I made the smart play in the end because last thing I want to be is in a legal battle in court going going up against Warner Bros over a name that I trademarked for my new novel.
When will that be coming out?
I’d love to play video game that was a RPG set in the DC Universe where I could play those characters. But a fighting game? I haven’t played one of those since arcades went to 50 cents a play.
