Christopher Nolan did a really great interview with Empire Magazine, but I found this one quote quite compelling and gives me hope that the Superman franchise can be saved, and that the next Batman film will be the Awesome Sauce.

… says the guy who largely based his movies off Frank Miller and Jeph Loeb’s takes on the character.
Yeah, there hasn’t been alot of detective work in his first two movies.
awesome sauce = saucem
I would never want anyone that would wear a tie like that to be involved with a Superman movie.
Yeah we need more detective work in the next movie… Still though Nolan is THE MAN!
And what a fantastic tie he is wearing ;)
I think there is a time and a place for detective work. I think the public at large would really not want to watch “CSI: Gotham” or “The Adventures of Sherlock Wayne”…most audiences would be satisfied with inferences, maybe having Batman pick up soil samples or run down some clues, etc. Nothing too overt, mind you. Keaton’s Batman movie had him analyze the Joker’s formula, make deductive reasoning, etc., but it was all very minor.
These Summer blockbusters rely a lot more on action. What I really would like is a director who can frame and film decent action sequences. We don’t need Batman wire-fu, but give us a decent look at the action and see the ultimate human in action.
Nolan’s Batman at least did some forensics in the last movie. Compared to previous Batmen who were too busy putting gratuitous fins and nipples on their equipment.
Great wrap up the next batman flick, start a new superman trilogy and then make superman/batman worlds finest please. I don’t care if it’s 4 years from now(the same way they announced the avengers). I don’t know what’s up with WB you guy have the rights to all the DC characters how hard is it damn it!
