The Source, DC Comics official blog and news source, has announced that the Flash series will end with issue #12.
This is really interesting, because DC previously solicited Flash #13 for a May 2011 release.

Before you grab your chest in shock and start screaming, “Ow my heart. I think I’m having a heart attack. You hear that Elizabeth I’m coming to join you honey. Your dummy son has made me a wooden overcoat. Oh, Elizabeth.“ keep in mind that many of DC’s regular titles are “disappearing” during the Flashpoint event to be replaced by their Company-Wide-Event counterpart.
Why else would you want to officially announce you are canceling a series? Well, it does look like DC has been borrowing Marvel’s marketing playbook as of late, which can only mean one thing:
AFTER FLASHPOINT…
THERE COMES…
ALL NEW FLASH #1!
A great new jumping on point for fans of the scarlet speedster. Soon to be a major motion picture!
Yeah…you think I’m being snarky and bitter over the news that I can’t get Flashpoint as a Digital Day-and-Date release, but don’t be surprised if we see something similar roll out by the end of the year.
If you are interested (and by interested I mean buy five copies as this will surely be a collector’s item), Flash #12 is scheduled to arrive May 11, 2011.

The phrase “great jumping on point” is this era’s equivalent of “all-new collector’s item”, isn’t it?
I’m a big Flash fan, and I’m afraid all these cancellations, restarts, and Flash-centric megacrossovers are just going to hurt the character in the long run. There’s already a backlash with non-fans, and fans are getting a little sick of having their chains yanked.
WTF??????????
I’m just getting plain disgusted with both Marvel and DC right now. How the hell do you cancel the series of the character that you built your “big event” around? If they put out “Flash 1.5” I wouldn’t care if they re-killed Barry Allen and brought back Wally West as the primary speedster I would refuse to read it or purchase it just out of principle.

They’re not cancelling anything, they’re relaunching with a “great jumping-on point…”
Exactly. Where is the OMGBad part? Save the angst for actual bad moves by the publishers. Comic fans are too sky is falling lately.
Actually i believe the official definition of the phrase “great jumping on point” means.
1. Noun Place to restart something because we felt like restarting it to satisfy our egos.
2. Noun Place to start reading something because the previous team fucked everythingup so far beyond the pale that they don’t even know the story anymore. (Often pertains to #1 issues.)
3. Noun Place to begin reading so we don’t have to remember what number we are on until we want to have a high number anniversary issue and then make it up.
4. Entrance ramp to the highway.
5. Bea Arthurs Underwear. (While she is wearing it.)
Francis Manpul already tweeted “All will be well.” so call off the angst dogs, folks. :)
Ridiculous…
We, the fans should instead of complaining. Just boycout all Restarts/#1’s after they cancel /stop a book. And all the $3.99 books should be left on the shelves to. All these BIG, UNIVERSE CHANGING EVENTS SHOULD BE IGNORED ALSO , ALONG WITH THE RENUMBERING OF BOOKS.
1 LAST THING, ANYONE WONDER WHY THE HUMAN TORCH DIDN’T JUST GO SUPER NOVA & BURN ALL THE BIG BUGS THAT KILLED HIM?
they’re going to relaunch with issue # 600 and go from there
If issue 13 would be 600 then I wholeheartedly approve!
Article on this very thing – http://speedforce.org/2011/03/flash-renumbering/
Barry Allen was better off dead.
I hope I never lose my sense of wonder.
Great Movie, “I want my 2 Dollars!!”
