Warner Home Video has announced the complete “pre-Nolan” Batman films will be released on Blu-Ray on March 10, 2009.  This is really close to the Watchmen movie release date, and may be a further snub to 20th Century Fox and its desire to release the Adam West Batman movie on DVD. The collection inlcudes Batman (1989) – Jack Nicholson is The Joker, who emerged from a horrible accident as a maniacal criminal. According to Variety, Mickey Rourke is in talks with Marvel Studios for a part in the upcoming Iron Man 2 sequel. …Rourke is in discussions to play the Crimson Dynamo, a heavily tattooed Russian arms dealer. He’s considered to be an evil version of Iron Man because he battles the superhero in a nuclear-powered suit of armor. Interesting choice if it plays out.  Rourke is on a high recently after his stellar performance in The Wrestler.  Major Spoilers fans will remember Rourke in his performance as Marv in the the Robert Rodriguez/Frank Miller adaptation of Sin City. via Variety

Disney has announced Garrett Hedlund will star as the lead character in the update to the 1982 film Tron.  Hedlund has appeared in Troy, Friday Night Lights, Four Brothers, Eragon, and Georgia Rule. Hedlund will play the lead, a man who finds himself pulled into the world of a computer and retracing the steps of a character from the original movie named Kevin Flynn. Hedlund joins Olivia Wilde, Beau Garrett, and Jeff Bridges, who is reprising his role as Flynn. via THR

Jimmy Hayward, the director behind the animated Horton Hears a Who feature, has been selected to direct DC Comics’ Jonah Hex movie. This follows the exit of scriptwriters Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who were previously scheduled to co-direct the film. The character of Hex, known for having the right side of his face disfigured and wearing a Confederate army uniform, was a rough-and-tumble gunslinger and part-time bounty hunter whose adventures always ended in blood. Studio 407 and Myriad Pictures have announced plans to bring the upcoming Night Projectionist series to the big screen.  In the last couple of weeks Studio 407 and Myriad have announced first look deals that will also bring Hybrid to theaters. Story takes place on Halloween Eve in a small-town movie theater, where an all-night Draculathon draws throngs of moviegoers who suddenly find themselves locked inside the theater, which is slowly filling with vampires. Wolverine is scheduled to kick off the summer movie season, and will hopefully do well providing the legion of comic book fans don’t boycott because of that Watchmen lawsuit.
