Sing with us won’t you? What do you mean you don’t know the words? I thought you nerds loved Star Trek!

It’s like 1938 all over again This week saw the release of The Mighty from DC Comics. While the series is from DC, it is not set on New Earth (or whatever they hell they’re calling it after Final Crisis), but it does feature a hero who might as well be Superman. Are readers tired of the Superman mythos? The strongest man in the world protecting those less fortunate than he seems like a great premise, but it really depends on how that character views himself among mere mortals.
Never wanting to make a Presidential endorsement, President Obama sidestepped a recent grade schooler’s questioning on his favorite superhero. MTV Shows Man, that’s gotta cheese Marvel’s EIC Joe Quesada off. I can just imagine the reaction to the news in the office of the House of Ideas… INT. JQ HQ. DAY An exhausted intern rushes into the palacial office of Joe Quesada quite out of breath. Intern: (out of breath) News from the front, sire! Joe Q: (views the video clip, then becomes quite enraged) He likes Batman too!? We’ve got the guy on the cover of Amazing Spider-Man, the…
This weekend, Batman teams with the Green Lanterns to take down Despero. This animated series just keeps getting better and better. Two more sneak peeks after the jump.
If there was one panel I would wait in line for at the New York Comic Con it would be this one.
After reading the press release (below), The Last Days of American Crime sounds like a really cool premise, and with Rick Remender telling the tale, it’s one worth checking out. Press Release What if the U.S. government perfected a broadcast signal that could extinguish criminal thoughts? If you were a grifter with only 10 days before the signal went live, you’d find the crime of the century that you’d been planning suddenly transformed into the last crime in American history—if you can pull it off.
I expect we’ll see a few more these before the end of the day as more publishers release their schedules for this weekend’s New York Comic Con. Archie Comics sent us its signing schedule and panel lineup for the show.
Wolverine and son reunite as Daniel Way and Doug Braithwaite team up to dig into Logan’s past to reveal an untold tale of Daken. Marvel has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of Wolverine: Origins #33, that arrives February 25, 2009.
The good news is, those 6-inch figures are being done by the same group that is doing the DC Universe Classic line, which means high quality sculpts with multiple points of articulation. Bonus ghost figures are nice, but I really want the first wave to be a build-a-figure Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. Press Release follows Culver City, Calif. – February 4, 2009 – Sony Pictures Consumer Products and Mattel, Inc. announced today the development of a new collectible line of toys based on the world’s favorite poltergeist fighting team, the Ghostbusters, including an extensive cast of ghosts and ghostbusters – celebrating…

Here’s another viral video for the upcoming Watchmen movie, that sends a message to all who would support the vigilante movement – Stop It! Boy, does that bring back memories.
We’ve already reviewed Marvel’s Dark Avengers #1 – the issue that kicks off a new direction for the Avengers (at least for now). The issue has been popular enough that it has sold out at the distributor level, which means a new printing, complete with a new variant cover (above). Dark Avengers #1 is scheduled to arrive in stores February 25, 2009, with that $3.99 cover price. via Marvel
Arriving in comic shops next week are Archie & Friends #128, Betty & Veronica #240, Betty & Veronica Double Digest #168, and Sonic the Hedgehog #197. Archie Comics has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of the issues, that you can check out, after the jump.
I know these figures are quire popular, but they creep me out. Big hands, big feet, bad guys with smiles on their faces; it’s like some weird dream character come to life to stalk you in the men’s room. The Wolverine Movie Superhero Squad continues the “cute” character line with a new group of figures, including two of those ever ellusive TBD figures that are all the rage these days. 1x Battle at Three Mile Island 1x TBD 1x TBD 2x Messiah Complex Pack #3 (C ) 1x Uncanny X Men Pack #4 (A) (subject to change) via Entertainment Earth
