Previously in X-Men Legends: This story takes us to the 1990s when the Summers Brothers deal with the return of Shi’ar people to earth. This is an in-continuity story that dives deeper into the X-Men mythos!

    LOOKING FOR THE FORSAKEN ONE

The Shi’ar are back and attacking Earth with Shi’ar/human hybrids! Cyclops and Havok are protecting the mansion from weird bird-like hybrids when they get a notification that their grandparents have been kidnapped. They fly to Anchorage, Alaska to receive a note that the Summer brothers need to find “The Forsaken Run”. This leads us to Adam-X who is also a Shi’ar/human hybrid but also has the X-gene. He is found on earth meditating in Iowa when Cable meets him. After a brief conversation, Adam agrees to meet with Scott and Alex. On his way to get them, he is attacked by the Spacejammer Pirates but rescued by the Summer brothers. After several action-packed pages, even Corsair arrives and reveals who Adam-X actually is.

    SOLID WRITING

This issue had everything I wanted from my X-Men comics. Every character is dynamic on the page and the storyline sets up the arc to hook me in. Trying to figure out how Adam fits into the family tree and how the characters are going to adjust is engaging and brings us back to the true theme of X-Men comics; family. I want to see how Corsair and the Summer Brothers handle Adam-X and how it fits into the larger X-Men continuity. It must be hard to not only looking back and what has already been written but also having to look forward to what is happening in the future. But this is a chance for creative teams to tell stories they have been waiting years to tell. And for me this works amazingly.

BOTTOM LINE: I’M SOLD SO FAR

I really enjoyed this issue, and it hits the right section of nostalgia and new ideas. For me this is exactly what I want and while I don’t believe any piece of art is perfect, this is near it for me. Great writing, dynamic art, and solid characters leads to a fun reading experience. 5 out of 5 for this book and I await anxiously for the next issue.
