This morning, Disney announced a Wreck-It Ralph sequel was set to arrive in theaters in 2018. The release ends up pushing Gigantic to late 2018.
Set in Spain during the Age of Exploration, the film will follow Jack as he discovers a world of giants hidden within clouds. Jack befriends the female giant Inma, who’s 11 years old, 60 feet tall, fiery, feisty and a lot to control, and treats him like a living doll. Meanwhile, the antagonists, Storm Giants, stand at 120 feet.
Nathan Greno, of Tangled fame, is working on the movie. Because Wreck-It Ralph has been moved up to March 9, 2018, Gigantic is being pushed to November 21, 2018. This follows the current practice of releasing two animated movies a year instead of a single flick that was the method of operation back in the late ’80s and early ’90s.
