Apparently DC is sending retailers a bunch of Blackest Night rings to give away this week when the first issue of Blackest Night hits the stands.  These look super sweet, but you’re going to have to contact your LCS to see if they will have any, as this was an incentive promotion, and from what I’ve gathered from other source, it was also not free for retailers. via Bleeding Cool

For those who can’t get enough Tim Burton, Dark Horse Deluxe has announced new products based around his book  The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories. Springing from Burton’s sketchpads and notebooks, these charming little characters have taken on a life of their own. They are his strange little children, and although some have described them as twisted or odd, as Burton himself has observed: “One person’s craziness is another person’s reality.”

Mattel has unveiled the packaging for the San Diego Comic-Con Wonder Twin set, and it’s really cool.  Light up action, voices, and the works.

I’m pretty sure we’ve run the images from Mattel’s DC Universe Collection wave 9 before, but we’re running them again, simply because I find the Chemo collect and connect figure so fascinating.  I’ve had a devil of a time with the entire collect and connect series, as I don’t think I’ve been able to complete a single figure – THANKS TARGET! I’m going to have to go eBay diving over the next couple of weeks to find all the back issue figures and parts, because I have completionism OCD, and also because these are pretty awesome figures. Mattel has two panels at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, and are offering up a bunch of exclusives to boot.  If you can’t go to the sold out show to pick up these exclusives, rest assured you can find them on eBay for a very jacked up price after the show.

Hardcore fans of Mike Allred’s Madman Atomic Comics title character will probably be fighting like cats and dogs over this limited edition, 100 piece, 12-inch figure from French toy designer Thierry Raynaud. Mattel dropped off a couple of new action figure images featuring a Blue Wildcat variant, the packaging for the upcoming JLU SDCC Green Lantern exclusives, and the packaging for the Anti-Monitor that the rest of us who aren’t going to get the giant figure can expect to see in stores.

Via a variety of different sources bouncing bits of information from one site to another, it looks like April O’Neil will be the first non-mutant ninja turtle in the NECA TMNT line.  No word on price, but the two mousers should give reason for fans to pick up the rest of the TMNT figures to help save the damsel in distress. via Peter Laird

Mattel has announced the sold out Mer-Man figures, part of the new Masters of the Universe collection, will be back in stock on April 29th, beginning at 12:00 PM Eastern.  The first run of the figures sold out, so fans who are building up their new action figure collection will want to cue up early. This year at the San Diego Comic-Con, Dark Horse Comics is giving attendees a chance to snatch up an exclusive Domo “Qee” transparent variant.  The only place to get your hands on the NHK television mascot is to attend the convention (or just wait until it appears on eBay the week after).
