Bryan Lee O’Malley has unveiled the cover to Scott Pilgrim #5. Behold! It’s too bad we still have to wait until February 2009 to read this. Perhaps by then a certain someone will return our copies of the first four volumes so we can talk about the series on the show. via The Beat

I adored the first Salt Water Taffy volume written by Matthew Loux, and I’m really eager to dig into the second volume A Climb Up Mt. Barnabas, which arrives in store this week. The second volume continues the all ages story of two brothers and their adventures at their parents summer retreat. Oni Press has kindly sent us a sneak peek at the volume to share with everyone at Major Spoilers.
If you are looking for something to do mid-week, and you are in NYC, head over to the Oni Release Party for Labor Days.
I like the tag Oni Press is using for the upcoming Labor Days title – Revolution has a gigolo, and his name is Bags. Bags just happens to be a down on his luck slacker, who’s stumbled across a mysterious videotape, and it’s up to him to find the truth. The graphic novel is by Philip Gelatt with art by Rick Lacy. Oni Press has sent Major Spoilers a sneak peek of the 144 page black and white comic that arrives in October.
Bryan Lee O’Malley has posted on his Live Journal page some info about the next installment of Scott Pilgrim. Title: SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE UNIVERSE Release date: February 4, 2009 To “debut” at New York Comic-Con, February 6-8, 2009. EDIT: IT’S RAMONA ON THE COVER, OKAY? DEAL WITH IT Most excellent! via Bryan Lee O’Malley
Major Spoilers reported on the new graphic novel coming from Oni Press, and today the company has sent us a sneak peek of Crogan’s Vengeance. I’ve had the chance to take a look at the entire story, and it looks pretty good. I’ll have a more complete review in the coming weeks.
Oni Press has announced a new ongoing century spanning series featuring the adventures of Catfoot Crogan, an honest sailor who finds his family tree littered with pirates. “Each book in the series recounts the exploits of different members of the fictitious Crogan family over the last three hundred years or so,†said writer/artist Chris Schweizer. “The family tree is filled with adventurers of every sort and caliber: pirates, legionnaires, gunfighters, private eyes, flying aces, lion tamers, and a host of other daring professions. Crogan’s Vengeance kicks off a series of graphic novels this September. It will be 192 pages in…
Remember the American Dream? The one that promised a safe place to live, work and play? Uncle Slam is ready to fight for that dream in Uncle Slam Fights Back from Oni Press. The political satire arrives in features the title character that is part machine, part man, and all patriot.
According to Variety, Universal Pictures has purchased the rights to Oni Press’ The Last Call graphic novel series by Vasilis Lolos. The story centers around two teens who unintentionally wind up on an interdimensional soul carrier train, and must figure a way out to get back to the real world. The Last Call is a series of graphic novels, but there is no word if the movie will be a single feature or a franchise of pictures. I haven’t read Last Call, Volume 1, but I have just ordered it from the Major Spoilers Amazon Page. This is the fourth…
Oni Press has announced it has collected all 12 issues of Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly’s Local into a single hard bound tome. The series follows the travels of Megan McKeenan as she discovers herself, while she discovers America. Crossing genres as it crosses the country, LOCAL examines how where you live impacts who you are. Each issues gives the reader another year in Megan’s life, as she tries to find a place where she fits in, where she can truly be local. This will be an over-sized edition, come in at 384 pages, and set you back $29.99. via…
Word around H’wood this morning is that Mary Elizabeth Winstead (the cheerleader in Death Proof) is in negotiations to play the love interest of one Michael Cera in the big screen adaptation of Oni Press’ Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film is only adapting the first volume of the Scott Pilgrim saga, and not the entire run (of which only four have been released). As much as I really enjoy reading the adventures of Scott Pilgrim, I wonder how some of the material will translate (or not translate to the big screen) – especially…
