Showtime has announced it has hired David S. Goyer to adapt DC Comics Vertigo imprint, 100 Bullets series for the cable network.
100 Bullets is an atypical comic as it features no superheroes, magic, supernatural elements or a sci-fi twist. It is a dark, noir-style story about the attempt by one man, the mysterious Agent Graves, to destroy a secret group of families that control most of the world’s wealth and power, and it also poses a classic moral question, “If you could get away with murdering the person who ruined your life, would you do it?”
I’ve only just started reading the series thanks to the digital versions available through comiXology, and so far, I like it. Now if Goyer can serve up a series that is as good as the books, then Showtime will have a big hit on its hands. No word now on when the show will go into production or when we might see it on the premium cable network, but we’ll keep monitoring the story as it unfolds.

100 Bullets is definitely one of my favorite series.
I’d love to see the full story come to the small screen.
However, I have a bit of doubt in the pit of my stomach. If a high-quality story like Locke and Key is having issues making the jump to TV, I fear 100 Bullets could stumble just as easily.
I’ve been reading 100 Bullets lately, I have all the issues but I’m only up to #53 right now. I really think this series will transfer well to Showtime. They do a great job with Dexter and other shows similar in format, so I’m not too worried there. I also think the straight gangster/mafia/conspiracy/whatever else is going on, is going to be much easier to adapt than a house filled with keys that let you change gender or turn into a ghost or whatever.
