Relativity has announced that Juan Carlos Fresnedillo has been hired to direct The Crow remake. The 28 Weeks Later director is expected to start filming in the fall of this year.
“Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is an incredibly talented and imaginative filmmaker,” says Executive Producer Tucker Tooley, “We are thrilled to have him at the helm and are excited to work with both Pressman and Apaches on what we all believe will be a compelling and innovative reimagining of The Crow.”
“The original Crow was groundbreaking cinema,” adds producer Edward R. Pressman, “Its gothic visual and musical ideas influenced a generation and cinema itself. With Juan Carlos, we have every confidence that his new Crow will have a similar impact on the contemporary audience.”
The Crow is being produced by Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh.

The Crow really does not need to be remade, did the sequels teach them nothing?
I was going to write more, but I don’t think I need to.
That’s not even funny. Remake a movie that a guy that could have been one of the greatest action heroes of all time got killed making? Come on. Even “The Crow: City of Angels” was worth watching just to see Iggy Pop act a fool and to see where Scott Borden ripped off his gimmick from (the rest, not so good).
They are walking a VERY fine line with that press release. Can’t say anything bad about the first one, can’t pretend the first one didn’t exist (like many of these remakes have done). Have to speak glowingly about the first movie and then talk about how yours will…what? Be better? No. Can’t say that. Be just as good? Then why watch it when you can just watch the original?
Remake of Brandon Lee’s finest hour??!?
