Despite the protests of one of my co-hosts at Major Spoilers, I believe that I, as a person, can be funny. Not everybody shares that belief (about themselves, not about me, I’m aware that my brand of humor can be an acquired taste), and it’s one of the few things in the world that I just can’t wrap my head around. Sure, we can’t all be George Carlin or Bill Hicks (or even, lord he’p us, Dane Cook), but the idea of just not being able to inject levity into whatever proceedings you’re a part of seems weird to me. And yet, many of my friends and colleagues, when confronted with the question “Are you funny?” will say no, leading to today’s hilarious query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) has been told by my child that I’m “sometimes” funny, but I actively try too hard, which seems pretty astute for a teenager’s assessment, asking: Are YOU funny?

I’m certainly funny-*looking*
My wife laughs at my jokes. Does that count?
Counts for me!
I can be. Sometimes.
It has been said of me, “he’s a bit funny, that one.”
I get that a lot.
