I always find it interesting that the big advancement of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the same one that the original Marvel Universe pioneered back in the 1960s: A truly shared universe. Sure, Superman and Batman crossed over once in a while, but it never really felt like they were in the same world before the mid-60s. Even properties that required a shared setting, like the seasons of Deep Space Nine and Next Generation that co-existed sometimes felt like separate realities, while the MCU has changed the way everybody thinks about their projects. In the case of the Dark Universe, that’s maybe not a good thing, but at least it leads us to today’s cameo-appearance query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) is a big fan of the Tommy Westphall Multiverse Hypothesis, Dwayne McDuffie’s creative exercise which ties together a wealth of shows, from St. Elsewhere to The X-Files to Star Trek and more, including Boy Meets World, asking: Which shared universe is your favorite of all?

The one in Super Robot Wars games. Its pretty much every single super robot and mecha franchise from 60’s to modern days mashed together.
i had a similar answer. in the early 90’s, there were a series of games called The Great Battle, in which all the Ultramen, Kamen Riders and Gundams teamed up against their respective enemies, all done in that SD/super-deformed cartoon style. the gameplay itself was meh, just your usual final fantasy “pick your party members and go off” sidescroller/JRPG stuff, but the concept of the massive teamup and very cartoony character design was great.
It’s hard to think of any that I have enjoyed as much over the years as Marvel, as repeated over comics, movies, television, and streaming. But since that was the ur-example, I will slide over to the Whoniverse of Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures, Class, and K-9.
Now, if we could get a Doctor Who/Marvel U live-action crossover event, that might take all my monies.
