Recently on the Twitter (which you REALLY should consider getting to follow the Major Spoilers crew for the full MS experience, and also since I get bored and do a list of Ten Things every weekday at lunchtime), someone asked what the best musical was, and I responded with my favorite, Godspell. Part of that is Victor Garber (or, as he’s known in my house Professor Jesus Titanic), part of that is the musical number ‘By My Side‘, which was once stuck in my head for three weeks. It’s a haunting song that marks the transition of the film from low-stakes hippie shenanigans to tragic passion play, and I get goosebumps every time I hear it. As with so many things, I don’t know if it’s the best of it’s kind, but it’s definitely my favorite, leading to today’s subjective query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) could also choose nearly any song from ‘Steven Universe’, especially ‘Like A Comet’ or ‘Stronger Than You’, asking: What’s the BEST musical number you’ve ever encountered?

The movie “1776” , the song “Is Anyone There?” where John Adams (William Daniels) is lamenting that no one in Congress is interested in American independence.
Come to think of it, 1776 is one of my favorite musicals. Period.
Today, I’m feeling it’s “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables” from Les Miserables.
Yeah, I dunno why they call it “Less Miserable”, cause I seen it and they just keep getting more and more miserable.
