As a massive Invincible fan who has been dying to see an animated series since I discovered the comics the news of the animated adaptation has been something I’ve chased down for literal years at this point. You may recall that Amazon Studios are also developing a live action adaptation of Invincible, but no further details have been announced in that arena.
Given the fact this week was slated to be New York Comic Con 2020 there’s been more entertainment news than usual and this trailer drop has me the most excited!
Fans of the first volume of the series will recognize many tentpole moments in Mark Grayson’s evolution into his superhero persona. J.K. Simmons (Legend of Korra, Justice League, Spider-Man: Far from Home), and Steven Yeun (Voltron: Legendary Defender, The Walking Dead), come off very well and with the nebulous release date of “2021” we see at the end of the trailer makes me want to scream “That’s not soon enough!”

Soul Heads Straight to Disney+
2020’s Pixar offering was Soul and given the fact cinemas will not be open in North America Disney has announced Soul will be heading straight to the Disney+ streaming service for the 2020 Winter Holiday, per Variety:
Soul” was initially slated to release in June, but it was later postponed to Nov. 20 amid the coronavirus pandemic. Variety previously reportedthat Disney was exploring various release options for “Soul” and was unlikely to move forward with its late November slot. Universal’s decision to push the release of its animated comedy “The Croods: A New Age” forward from Dec. 23 to Nov. 25 — the same week “Soul” planned to launch — further solidified the possibility that the Pixar film would move.
The article also points out, unlike Mulan, Soul will be available for streaming at no additional price.

We are thrilled to share Pixar’s spectacular and moving ‘Soul’ with audiences direct to Disney+ in December. A new original Pixar film is always a special occasion, and this truly heartwarming and humorous story about human connection and finding one’s place in the world will be a treat for families to enjoy together this holiday season.

MCU Casts Ms Marvel
Last week Disney+ announced last week that Canadian teen (cheers from me, a fellow Canadian!), Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan in the upcoming Ms Marvel series.
My guess behind casting a Canadian actor is because they may be planning to shoot in Toronto? Shang Chi has been rumoured to be shooting in Canada and since that center is more open than Los Angeles, or other US-based filming locations, so it may make sense if Ms Marvel is to begin production immanently.
Per Variety there has been no further comment about Vellani’s casting nor details about the series, but that has not stopped me from being so freaking excited about it!
Dune Pushed Back to 2021
Variety also announced that the latest adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune has been pushed back to October 2021 – in fact it’s squatting on WB’s other big genre movie offering, The Batman, which was itself pushed back [again]to 2022 – in light of the pandemic.
It follows the news of No Time to Die also being pushed to 2021.

I understand why studios want to push back releases but I’m also increasingly concerned that by next spring there won’t be anymore cinemas for them to show these movies in
