It’s finals week at my house, which means that a perpetually stressed teen has been wandering through the house complaining about history and math and gym class. I, for one, didn’t even know there was such a thing as a gym final, but she’s especially annoyed at Math. Not because she’s not good at it, she’s actually pretty solid mathematically, she just doesn’t like it, another of the myriad ways that she proves she’s my kid from day to day. Her best subject is unquestionably art, but the subject she’s best at that she hates the most is (by her estimation) either math or science, leading to today’s sophomoric query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) actually excels at algebraic equations, but finds them to be a complete and utter drag, asking: What’s your best subject (that you actually don’t like)?

Hmm, good question. Its hard to choose, because I like most subjects now when I’m actually old enough to know that school was actually great and adult life is soul crushing. My best I don’t care that much is probably my first language, Finnish. We got lots of weird rules and its impossible language to learn but somehow I was pretty good at it. I like writing, just not the whole rules and regulations thing that comes with actually studying it.
Probably Math. I do well in it, but strongly dislike doing anything above algebra. I’ts ironic because my mother was a math teacher.
