Here are the bullet points from today’s Dark Horse Comics Panel. Hey, we can’t just cover DC and Marvel now, can we?
- BPRD 1947 will be written by Mike Mignola and Josh Dysart with art by Gabriel Ba and Fabio Moon with colors by Dave Stewart.
- Jeph Loeb will be joining the Buffy the Vampire Slayer team for a single issue this fall.
- The next long Buffy arc will be written by Jane Espenson, followed by a five-issue arc written by five different writers, another Espenson arc, then Brad Meltzer, and finally Joss Whedon will write the final arc of the series. If this means Buffy is leaving Dark Horse, that’s a bad deal as it is the company’s number one title. If it means the end of Season Eight, with Season Nine following, I’m cool with that.
- A new Umbrella Academy series kicks off in November, that will focus on “Future Boy”
- Rex Mundi will end in 2009
- Whedon fans will be happy to hear there is another Serenity mini-series on the burner for 2009.
- Mike Mignola will draw The Chapel of Moloch one-shot.
- I’m not a huge fan of the BPRD Plague of Frogs story, but November will see the story continue in War of Frogs 2.
- If you loved Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog as much as we did, there is an eight page Captain Hammer story up on MySpace Dark Horse Presents.
- Mister X is returning in a new series and there is an omnibus edition on the way as well.
- There is a Clone Wars comic on the way, in addition to a digest sized Clone Wars Adventures.
- Vector will be collected in trade by year’s end.
- Bruce Campbell showed up to the panel to promote My Name is Bruce, and said there is a sequel in the works called My Name is Still Bruce.
- Unfortunately, there is no Bubba Ho-Tep sequel due to disagreements.
That pretty much wraps up the panel. Anytime you can get Bruce Campbell to show up to pimp your stuff, that has to be a good thing. By the way, are you watching the second season of Burn Notice? Man, that show brings back everything that was great about ’80s television shows.
