During the research for this week’s Major Spoilers Podcast, I was reminded of the existence of Lady Deadpool, the alternate-reality version of Wade Wilson where ‘Pool is still a mess of horrific hamburger-skin, but with long flowing blonde hair and a full crowd in the balcony. The idea of doing a gender-flip (what the kids on the internet call ‘Rule 63’) of an existing character isn’t a new one and it wasn’t new when Mary Marvel debuted back in 1942, either. But, it can be fun to see fan art, cosplay and even the occasional canonical male version of Wonder Woman or womanly Catman, leading to today’s fluid query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) still fondly remembers my favorite Fifth Doctor cosplayer and how much effort she put into getting every detail just right, asking: What’s your favorite example of a Rule 63 gender-flip in fiction?

I may think of a better one later, but off the top of my head, making Starbuck a lady in the syfy BSG series actually really did a lot for the character.
Also, if the character introduced at the end of this season’s Flash finale turns out to be whom I presume she will be…
