As is now Saturday custom, I had no idea what to ask for today’s MS-QOTD, and posed the question to my daughter. Widget’s latest obsession is the original 80s ‘Dangermouse’ cartoon, and so she wondered about what other badly-made cartoon adventures might have entertained the Faithful Spoilerites in their lives. I have told her about the wonder that was Super-President, and we’ve shared episodes of not only Dangermouse, but Wonder Wheels, The Impossibles and other Hanna-Barbera joints, leading to today’s recycled-footage query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) still loves the Filmation library, especially the deep cuts like ‘Space Sentinels’ and ‘Tarzan And The Super Seven,’ asking: What’s your favorite badly-made cartoon?

It was probably He-Man. To be honest, most of the 80’s cartoons were pretty cheap and used tons of recycled material, including Transformers and G.I.Joe. We all still liked them but if you compare any of those to stuff like Akira, which was made pretty much at the same time, difference is stunning.
Probably would be “Bananaman”. It is so ridiculous that I loved it as a kid and it is that kind of silly theme that influences a lot of my own creations (even my serious stories almost always have one zany character).
Filmation’s Tarzan. It reused a lot of sequences, sounds and other tidbits, but I loved it as a kid.
Another one was Filmation’s “Ghostbusters” It reused a lot of sequences, sounds and other tidbits. (See a trend regarding Filmation).
I haven’t seen anything as bad as that last Speed Racer, looked like Kappa Mikey on acid.
