October reminds some a spooky things that go bumpinnanight. For me, though, it’s the time of snuggling and hiding under a comforter with a pretty lady and maybe some cocoa. That romanticalness is still suffused with autumn darkness, though, reminding me that things end, people can be stupid and jealousy, as an unconscious Argentinian was heard to muse, can drive you mad. More tragic than love lost (at least in some ways)is love embraced TOO fully, leading to today’s potential query…
The MS-QOTD (pronounced, as always, “misquoted”) still believes Greg Universe walked away from massive superstardom, and you can’t convince me different, asking: Which fictional character made the biggest, most ridiculous sacrifice for love?

I don’t have many that really stuck my mind, except Beren & Luthién from Silmarillion.
Rose Quartz gave up her life to bring Greg a son.
This is a solid point…
Hmm..let’s see.
To prove his love, he..
Set sail to make his fortune, but was set upon by dread pirates and presumed dead. (He wasn’t.)
Fought a swordfight with a man who dedicated his life to the art of fencing. (He won.)
Fought with a brute. (He won.)
Drank iocane poison in a battle of wits with a mastermind. (He survived.)
Fell down a hill. (He survived.)
Got captured and was tortured until ‘almost dead’. (He got better, thanks to a miracle.)
THEN he had to fight for the woman he loved!
