When the 10 Cloverfield Lane trailer first dropped it looked to be a smaller film focusing on the antics of three survivors of a monster apocalypse. The trailer that aired last night on CBS, seems to give us a different take on the movie.

It still seems very “keep it low key and in the basement” for most of the movie, but once the heroine (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead) gets away from her captor, things look like they are going to get intense. But there is something about that final shot that has me worried. What if this is all a Twilight Zone swerve, and that big light is merely a helicopter looking for a missing couple? What if the monsters aren’t outside causing havoc, but are rather inside, keeping young men and women in a locked basement for their own amusement?
Guess we’ll have to find out what director Dan Trachtenberg has in store for us on March 11th, when 10 Cloverfield Lane lands in theaters.
