A lot of buzz is circulating around the Internet regarding Peter Quill’s father. In the comics, Quill’s father is Jason of Spartax, but that may not translate to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Writer/Director James Gunn had a few things to say on the matter this week.
“It’s definitely not the character who it is in the comics, I’ll say that much,” said Gunn in an interview with Empire Online.
Yeah, that’s right… NOT J’son.
“I’ve got the basic story for the sequel worked out. I’ve thought a lot about where these characters are going and where they came from, things we’ve gotta find out. There has been a lot of world building we’ve done that we get to play with in the second movie. There have been a lot of documents passed around about who Peter Quill’s father is, and things like that, between a select two or three of us. That’s been part of the plan since the beginning, that’s something I had to work out and I worked it out before we shot the screenplay. We wanted to make sure Yondu’s place in everything made sense and it does, so it’s all very specific stuff.”
We do know that Nathan Fillion is not playing Quill’s father, and Yondu makes a specific reference that he was picking up Peter to take him to his father. Now we get to spend the next two years speculating and doing the legwork trying to track down Peter’s father. If Marvel was smart, they’d find some way of using the Internet and social media to send everyone on a wild chase for the answer.

It’s gotta be Starfox
I’m betting it’s an Asgardian. His mother said that his father looked “like an angel” and in the birthday card called Peter her “little starlord” perhaps implying that his father was her big starlord. Literally a lord from the stars. We’ve met limited other races and the only one that currently seems to fit these descriptions, to me, seems to be Asgardians. Perhaps Fandral of even Thor himself. Plus James Gunn just said that “He’ll be showing up pretty soon.”
Adam warlock…
Yes, it has to be Warlock… Makes the most sense, he ties into the infinity gauntlet just as much as Thanos does.

Gnahh, stoopid movies messing up my continuity.
Peter Quill’s father is Adam warlock.
I am thinking Yondu. He said “I may be pretty as an angel.”. And while trying to keep his crew unawares with his tough stance, he always seems to cut Peter slack. I think he didn’t want his crew to know he was picking up Quill for himself. Of course I may be way off but that’s my take.
I think his father is Oden
