When Steven’s talking about rumor sites I swear he is talking about the gawker sites
honestly, i end up clicking on some of those “YOU’LL NEVER BELIEVE WHAT YOU MISSED IN THE DARK KNIGHT RISES” links at the bottom of major spoilers, knowing full well they’re kinda 50% BS.
you’re welcome for the ad revenue guys, btw ;)
anyway, the sites that have the resources and contacts to confirm or refute any rumors, MS included, will survive. the BS ones that throw up any ol’ crazy thing, then have to issue retractions later in the day, will not. because the internet talks, and despite how dumbass like 90% of the net is, it has a habit of self-policing, through word of mouth and people telling other people “hey, this site’s BS, and posts a ton of disreputable garbage, don’t go there.”
anyway, for the record, i could see Joseph Gordon-Levitt COULD be Batman in the Justice League movie, as long as he never takes off the mask. if they kept it to the JLU cartoon formula of just having the heroes be the heroes in each episode, without diving into say, Bruce Wayne being a man-about-town in Gotham, and his touch-n-go kinda-sorta datey relationship with Princess Diana of Themyscira, then it could work. just have it be Batman being Batman, and Wonder Woman being Wonder Woman.
We can only experience ‘reality’ to the extent of our senses or the instruments we can devise to enhance our senses. All ‘reality’ is filtered through our brains, as experienced through our senses. We are biologically limited in our ability to experience ‘reality’.
There exists a ‘deep reality’ that we can never fully experience. We can not hear the ultra high or ultra low frequencies, and thus that part of ‘reality’ is never experienced by humans. We cannot see X-Rays, infrared, and other energy spectrums around us and can only experience them as signals translated into coded human viewable images. Think of a waveform image of an ultra low frequency signal or a thermal image with greens and blues as ‘cool’ and red, yellow and orange as ‘warm’. Some animals can see and hear far outside the human spectrum and thus seem to have almost paranormal abilities. Hence, some people’s view that animal behavior can predict earthquakes and the recent exploration of cancer sniffing dogs.
Much of the Consensus reality is built on the signals outside that we can all process in similar ways, and thus agree on. We all experience the effects of gravity and generally agree that what goes up must come down. The gravity ‘model’ is pretty much agreed upon by most people. Experience tells them it is almost always true. Other ‘models’ of reality don’t necessarily have the immediately provable effects of gravity. Culturally devised, and experiential ‘models’ can also affect the experience of ‘reality’. Ones upbringing, education, geography, hopes and fears, can all alter a given ‘reality’ model for every given individual. A fundamentalist Christian, blue collar, rural upbringing will result in a vastly different reality to an secular/atheist academic upbringing in an urban setting. We all walk through our own ‘reality tunnel’ to steal a term from the great Robert Anton Wilson. Sometimes our ‘reality tunnels’ intersect and overlap and we experience reality in similar ways. Other times they differ greatly and we have screaming arguments and wars.
